Biomedical Engineering

About Department

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) was established in the year 2021. At present department is running the Post-Graduation Program as M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering (BME) and Ph.D. program (or research program) in Electronics Engineering (Biomedical Engineering (BME)).

The strength of the department is its highly qualified and experienced faculty members. Most of the faculty members are known for their valuable contributions in the field of Biomedical Engineering and its allied areas at the National and International Levels.

The Major research domains of the BME department are medical image processing, bio-signal processing, robotics in biomedical engineering, control system design for intensive care unit (ICU) and healthcare, robot surgery, AI for healthcare, smart healthcare, biometrics and security, and biomedical instrumentation, Implantable medical devices with the applications of cyber-physical biomedical systems, artificial intelligence (AI), Machine learning, Deep learning, and soft computing.

Biomedical Engineering is the research field to utilize engineering principles and concepts for medicine and biology in healthcare systems. This field helps to utilize the computer science fundamentals in smart healthcare to advance medical treatment such as diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy.

In the department, students learn miscellaneous skills to create solutions to continuing health issues, improve patient treatment facilities and technology, and help to reduce the cost of treatment with advanced AI.
