Agriculture, the backbone of rural India provides a livelihood to about 65% of the population through agriculture and allied sectors. Agricultural engineers have an important role to play in the sustainable development of agriculture. Department of Agriculture Engineering has the mandate to undertake basic, applied, and skill-based academic and research activities along with the capacity building of the students. The fundamental objective is the overall development of the farmers and students.

We believe that the modernization of Indian agriculture can be attained through agricultural mechanization, efficient management and utilization of various entities in the agricultural activities. Therefore, the department has dedicated educational divisions like Farm Power and Machinery, Food Process and Engineering, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, and Renewable Energy Engineering as core subjects of studies. To combine the traditional farming technique with advanced technologies, the department has introduced dedicated courses in the frontier areas such as precision agriculture using Artificial intelligence (AI) the and Internet of Things (IoT) to make the students better realize and understand modern technological intervention and application for better management of agricultural resource for higher agricultural productivity, and thereby prepare themselves for best employability.

The department has a well-focused approach in terms of research, innovation, and development of entrepreneurship interests among budding graduates. At the same time, the department has the vision to develop an agri-business model to enhance income and create rural employment. We also focus on capacity building of the student through continuous interaction between students and industry through collaborative projects, and advanced courses to develop a practical learning environment, skill enhancement, and interdisciplinary knowledge. The department has well-qualified and experienced staff supported by a modern audio-visual aids, and excellent infrastructure to facilitate a better learning process.
